Trigger Happy: Class suggestions
There should be a grenadier class with bombs and a rifle and stuff, and they should have scope and barrel as their upgradeble components.
Their attributes would be like, range which lets them shoot farther, (with all weapons) That would be the primary one. Then things like rifle mastery/pistol mastery, u know that sort of thing.
I think it would be really cool because they would be more powerful than ranger in attack but would have no traps or survival gear as compensation (and better armour too).
Anybody have any other suggestions?

Battlefield 2 or COD 2 will be more to your liking.
Most people don't want to try to cast a meteor storm against someone with a humvee and a shoulder mounted rocket launcher.
It would certainly be easier to defeat the doppleganger if you were commander and could call in artillary on his position.
Seriously though, you aren't serious about wanting rifles and bombs in this game of swords and sorcery..... are you?

Okay then.
THE BIGGEST PROBLEM I HAVE WITH IT: This is a Mideval themed game. Swords
and magic and that jazz. It kind of dampens/kills the theme when you see
people running around screaming: 'I'm wielding a sundering AK-47 of Enchanting!'
Also, if you're party leader it would utterly destroy the seriousness of most, if
not all cinematics. Imagine seeing your party fighting and someone unloading a
clip into a Charr's head. It doesn't work.
Secondly: Some preperations basically turn a Ranger into a grenadier. Splash
damage preperations like Kindle and Incindiary Arrows turn arrows into
essentially bombs.
Thirdly: Rangers have the best range out of the classes. Anything over the
current area of attack would be broken beyond belief.
Fourth..ded...ly: By adding better armor and taking away stances/traps/etc
you've done little more than create a warrior with a gun. Nothing too new or
innovative.
Do I really need to keep going or did I make my point?

No, no you've misunderstood completely, i dont want modern rifles and technology and such stuff, i meant an old fashioned musket type of weapon and those wee black ball grenades u see in the cartoons and stuff.
and also they certainly wouldnt have the same armour level as a warrior i'm not that thick, but i do actually like BF2 (dont hold it against me though)

So your character could only attack once every 3 minutes due to reloading?

three minutes is a bit over the top dont you think? Im thinking more like just a second or two more than a staff.
Maybe you ae right about the range thing though, i should think about that more.

Thats some pimp-ass musket reloading then.
And if you didn't want it to be modern why did you list a scope as
an upgrade component?

Gee, did the fireballs and giant talking cats give it away?
Scopes didn't see widespread use until the late 20th century.
Thus it would be considered modern.

Still dont liek the theme of rifles, grenades, nuclear bombs, shotguns, land mines, F-18's, or anything like that in a midevil themed game.

LOL. This was just a fun topic to read. Sister Rosette ftw!
Have to agree with Sister Rosette on this one. I dont want to see gunpowder or firearms in the game either, for all the reasons stated, not to mention:
5. OMFG!!1 I am teh the uber L33t gangstah with MAD shuting skillz!! Invit me NOW!!11
Because you KNOW pretty much everyone who gets on your nerves now would be exactly the same people that spam the above in All channels should guns be implemented. Doesnt matter what type of gun it is. It doesnt fit the theme environment all too well either, ultimately being the main reason i dont like it, all humor aside.

Oh come on, everybody is so closed minded and paranoid.
I DO NOT want to put nucleaur bombs in guild wars
I DO NOT want to put tanks in guild wars
I DO want to change things just slightly and that seems to frighten everybody
I Dont even know why i bother...

I suspect that the dwarves (if ever introduced as a playable race)will have guns.
1) There is blasting powder everywhere.
2) Dwarves are stereotyped as engineers.
If a new race had instead of bows, guns as their weapon, I could see it working - a magical/blasting powder fueled blunderbuss type thing, fine. Since you take away their rangers and give them grenadiers or something it could work ok. Not that I'd love the change or anything, but with all the blasting powder left lying around in kegs you'd think someone would have propelled ammunition with it.
